trailer for our Vertical slice Demo.

some of the more abstract renders for the game menu and trailer, heavily inspired by Oppenheimer as I was obsessed with that movie at the time.
Very happy to finally share some of the Environment art I did for my Universities vertical slice project, made in the Unity engine. Schrödinger is a narrative-oriented puzzle game where we use the player's blinking as an input in the game, the player must use their blinking strategically to solve puzzles. Making the Environments for this game was a really difficult challange as the art had to be as optimised as possible to accomodate for the facial detection program that ran with the game.
We chose to go for a more stylised and low poly apporach to ensure the game looked great while also running optimally on a wide range of computers, to meet these challanges, I researched a lot of art styles and games to draw inspiration from during the pre production phase, in the end I found the art style of firewatch really compelling, Most of the assets in the game, like firewatch are mostly just Albedo/ base color information in terms of texturing, other pbr maps were used when necessary, this was an interesting challange as most of the details had to be baked down into the base color channel, I employed several strategies like faking lighting and depth to make the props look more detailed and believable, something I learned from closely examining firewatch's art style.
Apart from being the sole Environment artist, I was also a Game Designer on this project, I also did the trailer and the cinematic particle shots for the game. I loved working on this project from conception till the end with my team. It has been some of the most challenging work so far and I am really excited for everyone to experience this demo.
